Overview

How we approach it.

An overhaul is a measurement exercise before it is a mechanical one. Everything comes apart, every wearing surface is measured against the manufacturer’s tolerance, and the decision to reuse, machine or replace each component follows from that measurement rather than from appearance.

You get the inspection report before the rebuild, with the replace/reuse recommendation for each item and what it costs. No parts are fitted on assumption, and nothing is replaced that measured good.

Rebuilt units are run and proven before dispatch — capacity, discharge temperature, vibration and oil pressure recorded against the expected figures.

Process

How the work runs.

The same sequence every time, so you know what happens next and what is expected of you at each stage.

  1. 01

    Removal & strip

    Unit isolated, removed where required, and completely disassembled. Components cleaned so they can actually be inspected.

  2. 02

    Inspection & measurement

    Every wearing surface measured against tolerance. Findings written up with a reuse, machine or replace recommendation and a cost for each.

  3. 03

    Approval

    You approve the parts list before anything is ordered or fitted. No surprises at invoice stage.

  4. 04

    Rebuild

    Reassembly to manufacturer clearances, with torque values and settings recorded as it goes together.

  5. 05

    Test & recommission

    Run tested, then reinstalled and recommissioned on site with operating parameters logged against expected values.

Asked before you ask.

Overhaul or replace?

The inspection report answers that honestly. Where the casing and rotating assembly are sound, an overhaul restores performance for a fraction of replacement cost. Where they are not, we say so — a rebuilt compressor that fails in a year serves nobody.

Can you work on a make you have not seen before?

Generally yes, provided documentation and parts are obtainable. Where we cannot get the clearances or the parts, we will tell you at enquiry rather than discovering it with the machine in pieces.

How long will the unit be out of service?

That depends on parts availability more than on workshop time. Where downtime is critical, discuss it at enquiry — pre-ordering the likely wear parts against the inspection shortens the turnaround considerably.
