Overview

What it does.

An air-cooled condenser trades water for air and surface area. There is no basin, no bleed, no dosing and no legionella management — and in return the unit is larger, the fans draw more, and the condensing temperature follows dry bulb rather than wet bulb.

Sizing is where these are usually got wrong. A unit rated at 35 °C ambient is not a unit rated for a Jeddah afternoon, and the shortfall shows up as high head pressure and tripped compressors in exactly the weeks the plant matters most.

Coil face, fin spacing and fan selection are chosen for the site. Wider fin spacing costs surface area but survives dust; that is a trade worth making deliberately rather than by default.
